“Cropped denims are something for the bold guys, but they are definitely on our trend radar,” said Tony Tonnaer, founder of Kings of Indigo, when we met him during Modefabriek in Amsterdam.

In fact, cropped denims might not be the most commercial topic in the denim menswear segment, but after seasons of stagnation and an overdose of tapered styles – a new denim silhouette is very badly needed. Cropped denim could be the answer. Combined with sneakers, loafers or slippers they convey a leaned back and relaxed style.

But half-mast cuts are not only a thing in denim, but also track- and even formal pants. Current streetwear designer darling Gosha Rubchinskiy has created a pair of cropped sweatpants in collaboration with sportswear brand Sergio Tacchini which are already out of stock in many online shops. Maybe a sign that some men have jumped on the bandwagon.
