On the occasion of the centennial of Ermenegildo Zegna and the 75th anniversary of Istituto Marangoni, the two leaders of Italian fashion have come together to launch the first Master’s course in Menswear.
The program will provide students with skills in technical drawing (freehand and digital) and deepen their skills in techniques for simple and structured garment construction. The program will also cover entirely all topics concerning product management and production flow administration.
An important feature of the new program will be the attendance of managers and designers from the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, who will transfer their skills and knowledge to the students in three key areas: product, style and retailing.
“This innovative project integrates conventional education programs, with the expertise of the Ermenegildo Zegna managers,” said Roberto Riccio, Istituto Marangoni’s General Director. “Zegna has always been convinced of the importance of training young talent, believing this type of teaching should not be only theory-based but also on significant practical experience. As a specialist in menswear, this partnership with Istituto Marangoni, Europe’s leading fashion school, is a natural collaboration, especially in the year that marks our 100-year anniversary. Ermenegildo Zegna is proud to back such a quality driven project as the Master in Menswear and to work together with Istituto Marangoni in preparing the next menswear designers,” said Benedetta Zegna, Ermenegildo Zegna’s Talent Manager.
The Master's course will begin on Oct. 18, 2010, taking place exclusively on the Milan campus, with seven, 2-1/2 hour tutorials running over an eight-month period. The program will be open to a maximum of 20 students and all courses will be taught in Italian with simultaneous English translation for foreign students. The aim is to train dynamic professionals to be experts in menswear and the fashion world with a strong knowledge of fashion product, style and creativity, market processes, and marketing.
