In January 2017, Paris will host Resident Showroom, a new menswear trade show and platform that will last for the duration of six days during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
The new project was created by Mark Batista and Craig Ford, founders of Jacket Required, London’s premium menswear trade show, together with Pierre Boiselle, expert insider of the fashion market, formerly working for Edwin.
Aim of the initiative is to combine the activities of a showroom with those of a trade show. “We created Resident Showroom as a response to what many expected: brands attend trade shows, whilst also setting up a showroom to extend their selling time. We decided to combine both activities, creating a unique platform for a select group of brands to sell to the world’s most discerning buyers, whilst cutting out the rigours of multiple showroom and trade show appointments spread over a full city,” explained Boiselle.
Resident Showroom will only be operated during Paris Fashion Week, offering two different schedules. From 17 to 19 January they will operate as a showroom strictly upon appointment. Then from 20 to 22 January they will operate as a normal trade-show that will be open to buyers, insiders and press, running simultaneously to shows such as Capsule, Man and Tranoi.
During the showroom time they will only offer their space to about 15 to 20 brands in order to guarantee more privacy for selling appointments, while during trade-show days they will host about 30 brands and will welcome more people.
The brands that have already confirmed their participation in the platform include TSPTR, Garbstore, Kestin Hare, C6 and AS20V from UK; Edwin, Enharmonic Tavern, RFW Footwear, Ayame and Kigawa from Japan; BBC, Ore-Cal and Ebbets Field Flannels from USA; Fracap and Nemen from Italy; Novesta from Slovakia and COF Studios from Sweden.
The Resident Showroom is located in the Bastille area and is characterized by clean and bright interiors that mix traditional French elements with modernist nuances.
Drawing from their extensive database, Resident Showroom will welcome an array of buyers from the United Kingdom, U.S.A., Europe and Asia.
