Modern Assembly, which includes Liberty Fairs, Agenda and Capsule, kicked off the Vegas shows at the Venetian’s Sands Expo Center with new show layouts, new brands and plenty of fresh product. High-tech sportswear, military inspiration and the luxe ‘70s – ala the velour track suit - were all trending on the trade show floor in Las Vegas. Designers are stepping it up for Fall ‘17.

Best New Concept:
The Cords & Co - The brand launched with a mission to make corduroy the new ‘go to’ fabric. With a range of colorful offerings for men and women, we like the brand’s take on innovating corduroy for the contemporary market. The brand will make a bold retail debut opening six mono brand stores around the world in August 2017.

Best Activewear Line:
Plein Sport made a splashy debut at Liberty Fairs and the luxury sport line has plenty to offer in the way of activewear. From logo driven t-shirts and sweat suits to sneakers and running gear, the brand is bringing high fashion streetwear style to the gym.

Break Out Look of the Season:
The velour track suit is the ‘must have’ of the season. Everyone from Palmiers du Mal to WESC, Thaddus O’Neil and PRPS offered their version of the oh, so ‘70s look.


Best/Most Innovative Denim:
Akai Ito – Stylists Douglas VanLaningham and Jeremy Friend are offering an innovative take on denim. The debut 14-piece capsule collection includes non-traditional, luxe denim styles. Bombers with detachable tuxedo tails, overalls made with zippers and strapping and jeans with intricate, distressing make this brand one to watch.

Best Emerging Denim Line:
Man X Oneteaspoon launched in 2016 with ever so cool, rebellious style. Denim silhouettes include on-trend washes, painted treatments and distressing. The collection also includes shirtings, sweaters and denim parkas making it an all around wardrobe go to.


Best Mountain Gear:
Aztech Mountain – The Aspen-based brand brings a designer touch to alpine gear. From plaid jackets to fashion forward technical outerwear and ski pants, Aztech Mountain easily goes from the slopes to the street.

Best Emerging Menswear Lines:
Palmiers du Mal – From velour track suits to colorful wool jackets, luxe shirtings and kimono shapes, Palmiers du Mal offers a fresh take on menswear with a global flair.

Thaddeus O’Neil – The brand was recently nominated for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award and we can see why. Giving a refreshing spin to menswear with a high fashion surf-inspired twist, the collection offers menswear with luxe fabrics, innovative styling and perennial cool.

Best of Streetwear:
WeDu’ by Coréon Dú – The Angola-based dual-gender streetwear brand, which is created by its musician founder, is not only well-made, it makes a statement on the street. From reflective fabrics to luxe leather parkas, WeDú is one to watch.

ADBD – This LA-based line gives a luxury update to basic streetwear style with luxe fabrics, a bold palette and over-sized shapes.

Best Hat Collection:
Hampui Medicine Hats bring a spiritual approach to headgear. San Francisco-based designer, Willee Roberts, creates bespoke hats for his clientele incorporating personal objects or “medicine” into its design creating a meaningful, one-of-a-kind topper.

Best Accessory Collection:
Herschel Supply Co. x Keith Haring – This collab is not only artsy cool, it’s functional. The collection incorporates Haring’s original artistic prints into Herschel’s classic backpacks, bags and accessories. The collaboration also includes outerwear in the brand’s recently launched apparel collection.
