High expectations: Two months to go before the Berlin trade shows kick off–with Panorama Berlin and Selvedge Run presenting their new concepts and settings at Tempelhof Airport. Here’s a round-up of what has been unveiled so far.

Panorama Berlin: moving towards a seasonless fashion-pop up event
Above all it is the move from Messe Berlin to the new location at Tempelhof Airport that shall give Panorama Berlin a boost, last but not least because there might be a bit of that Bread & Butter nostalgia still lingering in the hangars. Action will take place in the entrance hall, hangars 5 and 6 as well as on the Airfield.

By now, about 90 casualwear, mens- and womenswear brands have followed Panorama Berlin’s call and registered to take part in the upcoming edition running January 14-16. “We expect 300 to 400 exhibitors,” forecasts Jürgen Putzer, head of marketing and communications, as final result.

Apart from its new home, the trade show also wants to enhance a new concept: the key idea is to create a fashion pop-up that functions across seasons and breaks up the overcome order system to “stronger link industry, retail ad consumers,” as Panorama puts it.

Practically speaking, the January edition will host the so-called “Brand Avenue” on the Tempelhof Airfield on a space of around 10,000 sq. meters: individually created modular pavilions shall give several brands the chance to present their core values and products.

For Panorama’s summer edition in July this “Brand Avenue” shall grow into a “Brand Village” hosting a selected portfolio of brands and products as well as lifestyle topics.

Out of this Panorama aims to create a mobile fashion pop-up event in cooperation with brands and retailers that tours to different locations to get in touch with consumers directly and to set highlights by featuring special product drops, limited editions and after parties–in between the seasonal order time frames.

Selvedge Run: authentic showroom flavor
#Trendsareforsuckers is the overall motto for Selvedge Run’s 10th edition: Together with Panorama also Selvedge Run & Zeitgeist leave the Messe Berlin space and move to Tempelhof, more precisely to Hangar 5.

Here, the trade show “for quality garments, shoes, accessories and lifestyle goods” will offer room in four single showroom spaces dedicated to the topics Denim, Craft, Current and Outdoor.

As of today, about 30 brands registered at Selvedge Run, more to come until the due date in January. Among the roster are familiar names such as Big John, Stetson and Yen Jeans, but also some denim brands that can be ordered for the first time in Europe such as Trophy Clothing and Tanuki Denim from Japan as well as Oldblue Co. from Indonesia.
