The Selvedge Run & Zeitgeist platform, which is linked to Panorama Berlin and once again focused on a mix “between the latest streetwear within the highly relevant topics for the industry like denim, craft, current and outdoor,” reflected a mixed mood. Around 70 brands, including Arys, Blaumann Jeanshosen, Franz Gustav, Triumph Motorcycles, Schott NYC, Indigofera, Tali Kushnir, Novesta and KnowledgeCotton Apparel presented themselves in the foyer of the ExpoCenter Berlin.
Thumbs up from Klaus Kirschner, CEO Stetson: "We didn't raise our expectations too high in advance and are absolutely satisfied. We were at Pitti before and didn't find it as well attended as usual, and Pitti is usually an indicator. So we are now all the more surprised at how well things went here and that we had 25% new customers at our stand, including international ones, from whom we benefit greatly.”
Also Iu Franquesa, founder of the Spanish denim label Companion Denim, was fine with the result: "Even though it was much quieter overall than in January, we are still very satisfied with the result of the fair. We were able to make contact with new German customers and also with stores from the UK.”
Some exhibitors, on the other hand, were disappointed by the footfall: "There was too little going on. I'm not sure whether we'll be back in January," says the founder of a denim label.
Shane Brandenburg, co-founder and sales manager of Selvedge Run & Zeitgeist, puts it in perspective: "Summer is always calmer than January. But I am satisfied. It is important to me that the trade fair is not put in a drawer. According to the motto, this is all just Heritage and Crafted. Of course it is and will continue to be important, but we also have KnowledgeCotton Apparel here. The crossover idea is very important, it should also be important outside in a store and this is reflected here. Everything here is curated, put together with love and carefully selected. We've received good feedback from people so far; there are also some who are here for the first time. The advantage of being connected to the Panorama here is that we can present it to a wide audience."
