Even though July still seems far away, the organizers of Amsterdam fashion trade show Modefabriek called off the summer event–due to Corona. In an open letter the managing duo Lucel v.d. Hoeven and Caroline Krouwels today explain the step they had to take:

"The decision to cancel the upcoming summer edition of Modefabriek regrettably proved to be unavoidable. The Corona pandemic has had an enormous impact on everything that we hold dear, and we realise that it is now impossible for our event to go ahead as planned. [...] We certainly won’t stagnate, as we are convinced that these turbulent and unforeseen times demand new, creative perspectives."

Furthermore, they put emphasis on the Modefabriek online platform, "a contact point and connector. A platform for sharing expertise, information and countless other relevant concerns. A place where the fashion industry unites, and where everyone with questions or something to offer can meet. 365 days a year."

The date for the winter edition has not been announced yet, but the Modefabriek team will now focus on the 2021 event: "This situation also grants us the time to further develop new concepts for the winter edition of Modefabriek."
