After cancelling its physical Berlin event due to Corona, Neoyt is moving back into the digital space from January 18 to 22, 2021. During several panels, keynotes and interviews with fashion, digital and lifestyle experts the topic of transparency in the textile and fashion industry will be in the focus at this second digital edition of Messe Frankfurt's sustainability platform Neonyt on Air.


The program starts on Monday, January 18, with a short kick-off of the digital week from Neonyt's own ranks, before Andrea Sibylle Ebinger, CEO of Hessnatur, addresses the community in a personal keynote.


One of the main digital events on Tuesday, January 19, is a panel discussion presented by Oeko-Tex on "The future of transparent supply chains", which addresses, among other things, the supply chain law currently under discussion in Germany. Participants are Annika Sauerhoefer, Product Manager for "Made in Green" at Oeko-Tex, Mirjam Smend, Founder of Greenstyle Munich and Andreas Bothe, Head of CSR & Sustainability at Bay City & Chiemsee.

In the afternoon, Anosha Wahidi, Head of the Sustainable Supply Chain Unit at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Max Gilgenmann, Content Director Neonyt, will speak about BMZ's sustainable initiatives under the title "Due Diligence - due tomorrow?".

 

On Wednesday, January 20, Luxiders Magazine's Fashion Editorial will be followed by a keynote from the Kering Group.

In the afternoon, the panel discussion "The long financial thread of sustainability" will be all about fiscal sustainability: the three panelists Dr. Sabine Schlorke, Global Head Manufacturing of IFC World Bank, Christian Heller, CEO of Value Balancing Alliance e.V., and Hans-Jürgen Walter, Global Leader Sustainable Finance at Deloitte, and moderator Darius Nader Maleki, Project Manager at Maleki Corporate Group, will explain the concept of a circular economy from the perspective of finance and what role banks and investors can play or are already playing in creating a sustainable future.

Thursday, January 21, features another panel discussion titled "Sustainable sourcing – at the beginning of the chain." Johannes Fürst, Head of the Blue Lab at Drip by Drip, Anurag Gupta, Managing Director of Usha Yarns, and Gunnar Heller, Head of CSR & Member Compliance at Foursource, among others, will talk about the negative environmental impacts of textile production and the resulting solutions for better management of natural resources.

Afterwards, the live interview "Product is Key – the Timberland 2030 vision for net positivity" presents Elisabetta Baronio, Sustainability & Responsibility Manager at Timberland. She explains the sustainability approach of the American casualwear brand in terms of regenerative agriculture and circular design.

The panel discussion "Certification – transparency, credibility and trust" with Franziska Dormann, representative of Global Organic Textile Standard, Rapha Breyer, Textile Policy & Partnerships Officer at Fairtrade and Ingo Strube, Sustainable Consumption Officer at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment will provide an overview of the variety of seals and the challenges in the certification business during the pandemic.

 

On the closing day, Friday, January 22, the panel talk "Textile Trust – driving transparency by using blockchain" will look at the use of blockchain technology in the textile and fashion industry, which will be discussed by Christian Schultze-Wolters, Business Unit Manager Blockchain Solutions at IBM, Stefan Rennicke, Founder and CEO of Kaya&Kato and Michael Krake, Sub-Division Manager at BMZ.

Last but not least, Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, will close the event with a short farewell keynote and an outlook on Frankfurt Fashion Week in summer 2021.
