At the beginning of September, despite the great challenges of a pandemic, trade fair organizer Munich Fabric Start held its first fabric trade fair after the end of the lockdown with the Fabric Days. Only a few weeks later the situation looks different.

Against the background of the current Covid-19 developments in Germany with increasing infection numbers and the uncertainty about their further course including possible further travel restrictions, the fabric trade fair View Premium Selection, planned for 1-2 December in Munich, is cancelled. This was announced by Munich Fabric Start today.

"The cancellation of the Preview trade fair View is definitely a difficult decision for us, based on our sense of safety and responsibility. Because there are only a few weeks left until the beginning of December–a very short time in which the risk based on the occurrence of infection cannot be sufficiently assessed to continue with the planning of the View. We have reached a point where we should keep our travel and social contacts to a minimum–at least for the time being with an outlook for the coming weeks," explains Sebastian Klinder, managing director, Munich Fabric Start.

The team around Klinder is now focusing on organizing the second edition of Fabric Days, scheduled for 26-28 January, 2021 at the MOC Munich to present the spring/summer '22 collections to the textile industry.

"Of course we are doing everything we can to realize our plans despite the very dynamic times. This is a perspective for the industry and our fixed goal, which in turn can only be achieved through a joint effort. Flexibility and cohesion are now particularly required. We are prepared to offer the industry a platform in Munich for personal exchange, as far as this is possible and responsible for all parties involved," says Frank Junker, creative director, Munich Fabric Start.

The organizers are again expecting a collection portfolio of around 400 international suppliers, and the first registrations have already been received.
