Due to reasons related to the pandemic, Munich Fabric Start (MFS) and Bluezone, the international textile trade shows expected to take place in Munich from 1-3 September, 2020 in the interim location of Messe München-Riem (also read here), will not take place.
Instead of Munich Fabric Start, another show in a reduced-size version will launch: Fabric Days. The event will happen in the same days scheduled for MFS in the MOC location.
“Due to the challenging situation we were forced to cancel the exhibition Munich Fabric Start, the official big event, together with Bluezone, Keyhouse and all services that characterise our trade show,” explains Sebastian Klinder, managing director, Munich Fabric Start/Bluezone. “Though we have received a huge interest from many companies – not only agencies, but many fabric suppliers who told us: ‘We need a fabric trade show and we love to be in Munich. The timing is right. Please arrange a trade show for us,” he continues.
“We have come up with our new Fabric Days concept. It will be a reduced version of a trade show, not more not less, but a business-, sales- and networking-driven show that focuses on the essential. No Bluezone is planned in Zenith Hall, but all the Bluezone exhibitors are invited to join Fabric Days,” Klinder says. “We are focusing on business and the companies which have placed their orders and are willing to join the show. And for these companies we are establishing a smaller trade show, not comparable to MFS, though it is an alternative in this difficult situation.”
“We expect to eventually host 300-400 exhibitors. This could change from day to day, but right now we feel that all of our major customers want to come and showcase their new developments,” adds Klinder.
And referring to the alternative to run a digital event Klinder comments: “We cannot replace MFS with all these digital platforms, talks and video conferences. I am happy that so many other initiatives are happening around but in my eyes a regular trade show cannot be replaced with a digital event - this is the feedback we received from the industry.”
