This area of the show hosted about 80 global specialized denim manufacturers in a compact, welcoming and newly redesigned area but some exhibitors complained about its slow rhythms and presence of visitors.

However, various business meetings were carried ahead by many of the exhibitors, many of who showed very interesting novelties focused on new sustainable fabrics, new raw materials and digitally printed denims.

Among them, Deyao launched a series of new sustainable denims made with Repreve, Unifi’s fiber obtained from recycled PET. It also presented another variant also using Sorbetek, a fiber also obtained from recycled PET but with moisture management properties. Similarly, Sorbetek 360, a denim with thermoregulating properties, is meant to keep wearers cool and dry in summer and warm in winter. Also new from this collection was a special denim that can resist abrasions and wearing out better than standard denim as it can stand more than 1,200 rubs without changing aspect or getting ripped thanks to its composition of BCI cotton, GRS polyester, nylon and spandex.

Foison Denim is also betting on various eco-friendly developments as it uses a special liquid indigo for dyeing that has a lower impact on the environment. The company also presented a series of new soft touch fabrics made with rayon, Tencel and Modal, and eco-friendly denims using organic cotton, recycled cotton, recycled Tencel and Repreve.

Expertex, a newcomer for this edition, launched a series of denims made with a vast variety of innovative components including mint and isatis root–both with antibacterial properties–though also graphene, hemp, recycled polyester and BCI, among others.

Among other novelties, Wellbom Denim launched a series of digitally printed denims that lend themselves to cool personalized items, according to each brand’s or designer’s specific request.

Other sections of the show spotlighted various interesting products. Avantex, the show focused on innovative textiles, for instance, hosted companies and seminars focused on biotech and biodesign applied to fashion. Also interesting was a session on blockchain technologies and their influence on global sourcing in the fashion sector.

The Leathertex section hosted a variety of cool leather and furs – both natural and ecofriendly. Most interesting were Ecopel’s fake furs in flashy hi hues.
