The upcoming edition of Kingpins Amsterdam (26-27 October 2016) which will be taking place at Westergasfabriek, in Amsterdam, will welcome denim and jeanswear market insiders with some novelties, including hot topic seminars, trend forecasts and the anticipation of its Global Denim Awards at the evening of the first day of show.

The Kingpins Amsterdam show will host about 50 exhibitors, presenting novelties for s/s 2018 from global mills at the same location as Why by Kingpins, the parallel boutique branding and innovation show that will also take place for a second season presenting an expanded selection of exhibitors including label, trimming and button manufacturers.

Parallel to Kingpins Amsterdam seminars and trend forecast presentations will take place. On 26 October, at 1:30pm, Invista will present its “Global Consumer Insights on Jeans” study giving an insight on men’s and women’s denim needs and potential solutions in denim offerings. On 27 October, at 1:30pm, Kingpins will hold a new discussion panel with the topic “Politics, trade and the economy – What’s next?” This round table aims at investigating how the political climate could influence the denim and apparel industry. The talk will be moderated by Leonie Barrie, managing editor of Just-Style.

On both days of the show Kingpins consultant Amy Leverton will present the Denim Dudes/Kingpins Show Denim Trend Forecast for S/S 2018. On 26 October the seminar will take place at 11.30am and on 27 October at 11am. Also presenting s/s 2018 denim trends will be an installation designed and executed by Wink, renowned Amsterdam-based architects.

For its third edition, the Global Denim Awards will be held on 26 October, on the first evening of the show. The contest will present progressive design, technical innovation, sustainability and craftsmanship by partnering 11 emerging fashion designers with 11 established denim mills worldwide.

This edition’s presentation will be held at De Hallen Studios. Instead of a traditional runway show, models will present themselves on three spectacularly lit stages. It will be attended by a carefully selected audience of 500 international denim professionals from mills, wash houses, suppliers, brands and retailers.

Members of this edition’s jury will be Amy Leverton, denim expert and consultant for Kingpins; Art Comes First, British creative expert duo and conceptual platform; Kelly Harrington, Swedish designer, and Alex Jaspers, global sales director, Scotch & Soda and denim aficionado.
Kingpins Transformers, the full-day session focused on sustainable textile issues, will happen again on 24 October 2016 and will focus on the main theme “Toxic future: Is the scary part of hazardous chemicals on the way?” The panel will host industry personalities including Andrew Olah (Kingpins Show), Sara Fessler (G-.Star Raw), Miguel Sanchez (Archroma), Alberto Candiani (Candiani Denim), Alberto De Conti (Garmon Chemicals).

On October 25, Orta will launch its new “The 5374 Vintage Showroom Book”, a book curated by denim experts and vintage collectors Douglas Gunn and Roy Luckett. The book launch will take place at the Orta showroom (Keizergracht 27, Amsterdam) at 5,30 pm.

Parallel to Kingpins, two denim manufacturers announced that they will inaugurate their new showrooms in Amsterdam. Vicunha, also exhibiting for the first time at this edition of Kingpins, will open the doors of their new Vicunha Netherlands BV offices in Koivistokade 54. Isko will bash their new Amsterdam showroom, too. It is located at Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat 46 and will welcome guests and insiders on 27 October from 1pm to 9 pm.
