On 17 and 18 May 2017, the 6th edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo will kick off in the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The upcoming edition of the show will unveil a diverse event program focused on the main theme “Denim Networks”. The show, in addition to hosting trend seminars on f/w 2018/2019, will also present special sessions addressed at insiders willing to learn about the best practices while sharing knowledge within the whole industry.
Not to be missed will be conversations held by top experts and leaders from renowned companies and organizations of the whole global denim supply chain such as, for instance, Piero Turk, world renowned designer and denim expert, sharing the stage with Alice Tonello, R&D manager, Tonello Garment Finishing. Also participating in the show’s informative sessions will be Marco Nava, global sales director, Garmon Chemicals.
The trade show will host about 60 exhibitors and will take place in two different halls for the first time, doubling its space – the “Nabaratri Hall 4” and the “Rajdarshan Hall 3”. This last new area, which measures almost 2,800 square meters, is completely dedicated to hosting seminars
Moreover, to further promote and imagine the future of sustainability as one of its core values, Bangladesh Denim Expo will host the first “Sustainable Apparel Forum”, a unique event scheduled for 17 May at “Rajdarshan Hall 3”.

During this edition of the show, the magazine Bangladesh Denim Times will also see its debut. The publication will highlight news from the denim business and the industry and present new denim trends. It will also promote examples of worldwide denim creativity from the constantly growing denim industry in Bangladesh. The magazine will be released three times a year and will be distributed to brands, buyers and international key retailers and representatives of denim. It will also be available online (http://bangladeshdenimtimes.org/) and it will be sent to over 10,000 leaders in the denim business worldwide.

All day: “The Sustainable Apparel Forum” will be held all day long at “Rajdarshan Hall 3” and will focus on the topic “Making sustainability easier”. The event, designed and organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), the country’s only private initiative led apparel sector promoter, aims to facilitate exchange of knowledge to make sustainability easier to be exercised by factories and individuals and to stimulate Bangladesh’s apparel industry to cope with the next generation's challenges that the whole sector must face nowadays. International renowned top managers from apparel and textile companies in Bangladesh will bring in fresh perspectives on sustainability.
Part of the day will also be different knowledge sessions:
- Session 1: “Saving water, resources & cost: - The ‘Must Knows’ for our factories”
- Session 2: “Energy efficiency – How to optimize energy consumption & reduce cost”
- Session 3: “Green Factories”
- Session 4: “Sustainability financing”

11.00 – 11.45 am: “From ideas to technologies: discovering a new age for garment finishing”, with Alice Tonello, R&D manager, Tonello Garment Finishing, and Piero Turk, designer and denim expert.
The seminar will focus on new trends in finishing, embracing cultural, economic and technical considerations.
11.45 am-12.00 pm: “Question and Answer session” with panelists.
12.10 am -1.30 pm: F/W 2018/2019 trend seminar by WGSN.
2.30 – 3.15 pm: “Garmon Seminar” with Marco Nava, global sales director, Garmon Chemicals.
3.30 – 4.15 pm: “Total quality assurance. Holistic approach for business excellence” with Karthik ND, country managing director, Intertek Bangladesh. In this session, Karthik ND will share his thoughts on a holistic approach for business excellence with the opportunity for direct interaction with the expert from all attending participants.
Bangladesh Denim Expo is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, specifically established to act as a hub where key denim industry players can congregate and share their passion for denim. Launched in November 2014 by visionary insider Mostafiz Uddin to create an international denim community in Bangladesh, the show registered 5,010 visitors from a total of 1,023 companies in their last 5th edition held in November 2016.
