Gucci gains 34 positions and more than seven points in the Fashion&Beauty cluster of the ESG Perception Index (esgreputation.co.uk) survey.

Developed by the reputation analysis and management company Reputation Science, the index monitors the perception of sustainability of companies, identifying a total of 200 companies, including 31 in the fashion and beauty sector.

In the six-month update as of last October, the double-G brand takes second place in the cluster (44.36, up 19% from April 2022), recording the highest number of conversations related to ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) issues (19.8% of the total), driven by initiatives such as the partnership with Harry Styles, which supports the Global Fund for Women, and the launch of the summer pet apparel collection.

Towering above Gucci is only Armani (47.01): considered the company with the best perception of sustainability in the six-month period, it grows in the overall ranking (+16), thanks in part to the opening of the first single-brand A|X Armani Exchange, with an inclusive spirit.

On the third step of the podium is humanist entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli (40.94), while fourth is Adidas (40.07), which created the Run for the Oceans event for those who want to keep fit by cleaning up the environment.

Fifth is L'Oréal (38.50), sixth Luxottica (37.35) and seventh Benetton Group (37.11), which together with employees donated four million Euros to the Ukrainian people. Prada climbs one position, placing eighth (37.02), to the detriment of OTB, ninth (36.36). Tenth is OVS (35.78), which gains more than four points in absolute terms.

Only Armani and Gucci are also among the top 50 companies in the overall ranking, being 36th and 50th, respectively. The fashion cluster, as Reputation Science points out, records an average index of 26.95, up from the previous survey.

The only doubt each one could ask is if perception is a trustworthy indicator of a company's truly virtuous behavior.
