Cos, the sustainability-focused apparel and accessory brand part of H&M group, has recently re-opened its Biblioteksgatan flagship store in Stockholm according to an innovative concept.

This store is the first in Europe to adopt a new concept featuring sustainable design and offering a gallery-like space to host art works and collaborations that celebrate the brand’s inspirations from contemporary culture.
Its new concept was developed by its in-house designers, and supported by sustainability, interiors as part of the brand’s ambition to create fully circular store environments.

While the store is characterized by new techniques of the organization of space, it also aims to engage the senses and create a new playful and vibrant atmosphere.
Spanning over two floors on 566 sq. meters space, the new boutique features a number of sustainable materials and fittings as part of the brand’s goal to reduce store CO2 emissions while maximising the lifecycle of all its interiors as it hosts 66% more recycled material decors than the original COS store. Some sustainable features include, a fully circular flooring system, 30% recycled aluminum rails, 100% recycled polystyrene mannequins in place of fiber glass, statement display tables made from recycled paper or cellulose pulp and the removal of heavy concrete fittings.

Within its inauguration, happening today, September 30th, the store will open with a curated selection of paintings and sculptures by international artist, Liselotte Watkins who is inspired by vintage aesthetics and antique objects to create art that celebrates womanhood. The pieces will be available for customers to view for a limited time, while later in the season new works created specifically for the space will be introduced as well as the opportunity to purchase limited edition prints.
