Swedish fashion house Filippa K has just opened a new store at PC Hooftstraat 125, in Amsterdam, marking the latest chapter in the house's ongoing transformation.

The brand's creative director Liisa Kessler has explored dualities within this single retail space as she mixed refined elements balancing with raw detailing, along with vintage accents complemented by a range of commissioned pieces from artists, designers and artisans.

Designed in collaboration with architecture firm Profan, the space is a continuation of last year's revamp of Filippa K's Helsinki flagship, which introduced a new conceptual approach to the brand's store design.

Fundamental to the new Amsterdam location is the ice blue hue, reminiscent of the misty Nordic landscapes that inspired Kessler's first campaign for the house, which focused on the tradition of ice bathing in northern Sweden.

The striking yet approachable color is found on the clay flooring and is produced through a pigment dyeing process. The 170 sq. meter space is spread over two floors: the first floor houses Filippa K's womenswear collection and Core Styles, while the upper floor houses menswear and Core products, as well as a terrace overlooking a small garden.

The idea of structural contrast runs throughout the store. At the back of the first floor, a series of tapestries made from yarn remnants of past Filippa K collections hang in the dressing room.

Created by Micael de Leeuw, a Swedish artist whose first medium was painting, the pieces have a painterly feel, with the varying lengths of yarn adding an imperfect but rich tactile quality.

Combined with the mirrors of the dressing rooms, these tapestries are meant to convey a sense of departure, conveying the idea of a world hidden within another.
