The premiere of the trade show events to happen in Frankfurt 18-20 January is postponed. This has just been announced by the trade show organizers Messe Frankfurt and Premium Group.

Due to the increasingly critical Covid-19 situation once again world-wide and after yesterday's decisions by the Federal Government and the states, it will only be possible for Frankfurt Fashion Week (17 to 21 January 2022) to take place physically in parts, it says in an official statement.

This means that the trade-visitor events–Neonyt, Premium, Seek, The Ground and Val:ue–will not take place in January but instead will run for the first time in a physical form in July 2022.

Showcases, previews, installations and exhibitions will take place in Janauyr though and can continue to be held on a basis of 2G rules (admission only for participants with proof of vaccinated or recovered status) and 2G-plus rules (all participants must be fully vaccinated or recently recovered and be able to present a negative antigen test on a daily basis). Conferences, talks and panels will also partly go ahead in reduced, hybrid form.

In view of the escalation of the pandemic which the Omicron variant could entail for Germany, as forecast by the German Government's expert advisory panel, it is currently not possible for Messe Frankfurt, as organizer of the trade-fair formats Neonyt and Val:ue, nor for the Premium Group as organizer of the trade shows Premium and Seek as well as of the fashion festival The Ground, and of the Fashiontech Conference, to go ahead further with plans for the premiere of these major fashion trade- visitor fairs in Frankfurt, it says in the statement.

"We are aware of the industry's pressing need for personal meetings. Therefore we are convinced that, with the showcases, events and conferences which we shall be holding in January to the extent possible in conformity with Coronavirus restrictions, we shall be sending a positive signal from Frankfurt that something is up and running", says Olaf Schmidt, vice president textiles and textile technologies, Messe Frankfurt.

Nevertheless, the summer dates have already been announced: Frankfurt Fashion Week is scheduled to run from July 4-8, with trade shows taking place from July 5-7, 2022.
