The sports trade show Ispo Munich will not open its doors from January 23 to 26, 2022, as originally planned. Instead, there will be a new schedule: From now on, Ispo Munich will be held permanently at the start of the winter season at the end of November, thus leaving the previous January date. OutDoor by Ispo will move forward permanently from late June to late May/early June. This was announced today by organizer Messe München following consultation with various sports and outdoor brands, the trade and industry associations.
For 2022, this means that Ispo Munich 2022 will take place from November 28-30, 2022. The new date for OutDoor by Ispo 2022 is June 12-14, 2022.
The permanent shift in dates is a strategic decision due to the far-reaching market changes of recent years, according to an official statement. Industry and trade are facing major upheavals in the global supply chain, which has changed order cycles. An Ispo Munich scheduled in January or February, as was previously the case, would therefore be too late for many industry participants. The permanently brought-forward date for OutDoor by Ispo also fits in much better with the new order cycles.
The permanent date adjustment is intended to give the trade fairs even more relevance and a completely new significance as an important source of impetus for both the entire industry and the end consumer: "We are creating a completely new business ecosystem here, in which Ispo Munich and OutDoor by Ispo will gain more relevance by adapting to the changed order cycles. We will take the concepts of Ispo Munich and OutDoor by Ispo to a new dimension ", says Tobias Gröber, head of the consumer goods business unit at Messe München.
The dates, which are now each located at the beginning of the industry-specific order cycles, are intended to provide exhibitors and trade visitors with an earlier overview of the market. With an already announced Consumer Festival at Ispo Munich, end consumers are also to be activated for the coming winter season through events and experiences.
As part of the innovations, the duration of both events will continue to be shortened to three days and a maximum size for stands will be introduced. Currently, the maximum stand size for OutDoor by Ispo is 150 square meters and the maximum stand size for Ispo Munich is 200 square meters per exhibiting brand.
In addition, OutDoor by Ispo will be held once in June 2022 at the MOC Veranstaltungscenter and the former railroad repair works in the immediate vicinity. This June date is an interim step towards an even earlier date from 2023: For 2023, OutDoor by Ispo is scheduled to take place again at the Munich-Riem exhibition center from May 22 to 24. It will then be held permanently at the end of May/beginning of June.
