From 12 to 18 November, the first “Made in Bangladesh Week” will take place in Dhaka, at Intercontinental Hotel. The new event will be the first-ever branding event organised by the Bangladesh apparel industry and dedicated to showcasing the newest, most innovative and sustainable developments achieved by the ready made garment industry from this country.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will organise it in partnership with the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), opening the platform for delegates, brands and retailers, stakeholders, policymakers, and trade bodies to initiate collaborations and discuss prospects and roadmap for the future.

This special week will host a program of 17 physical events comprising summits, expositions, photo exhibitions, conferences, a fashion innovation runway show, a sustainable design and innovation award, a fashion photography award, factory tours, international cultural shows and more initiatives.

As the ready made garment industry contributes a large portion of income and recognition to Bangladesh, this initiative aims to amplify business opportunities and reinforce this highly specialised industry as a competitive and value-adding sector working towards sustainable industrialization.

The “Made in Bangladesh Week” also aims to promote the apparel industry of Bangladesh locally and globally by showcasing its most significant developments, including the areas of workplace safety, environmental sustainability and workers’ wellbeing.

Within its vast program, Sheikh Hasina, Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh will inaugurate the "Made in Bangladesh Week" on 13th November 2022.

The Made in Bangladesh Week will host a series of events like, for instance, the Dhaka Apparel Summit, taking place on 15 and 16 November. It will gather buyers, policymakers, global fashion platforms, manufacturers and development partners under one roof to highlight what lays behind the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tagline and discuss the ways forward.

Bangladesh Denim Expo, that has already established itself as a must-attend show in the international denim calendar, will also happen on 15 and 16 November. Organised by Bangladesh Apparel Exchange, this exhibition will host a new comprehensive showcase of the entire denim value chain presenting some of its most important players and insiders within the fabric, finishing, washing and accessory segments. It will be an exclusive event only for authorized trade visitors.

The Dhaka Apparel Expo platform will also showcase the country’s apparel, textiles, and other related products under one roof. The event will be open to manufacturers of RMG, fabrics and yarn, accessories, machinery, and chemical suppliers from 15 to 16 November. It will bring opportunities for the global buyers and their representatives to see the varied categories of Made-in-Bangladesh garments with the world's most competitive sourcing offers. International brands, retailers, and importers looking for sourcing and production partners in Bangladesh will be offered new business opportunities.

Along with many other initiatives, the kermesse will also host some special awards. Among them there will be The Sustainability Leadership (TSL) Award recognising the best practices of Bangladesh apparel factories in the areas of Environment, Social and Innovation. Objective of the project is to motivate factories to adopt sustainable practices to transform the image of Made in Bangladesh to the world market as modern, safe and green. The award will be divided into three categories–Social Excellence, Environmental Excellence and Innovation Excellence.

They will also hold The Sustainable Design and Innovation Awards aimed at finding creative and innovative sustainable designers in the country through a rigorous selection process who will be evaluated in terms of innovation and elaboration, functionality, aesthetics, and responsibility by the jury board to promote and educate design professionals on new concepts, laws, codes, design standards, best practices, materials and methods of construction and process, among others. Both award giving ceremonies will take place on 17 November.
