The textile trade show Munich Fabric Start and the denim trade show Bluezone are ready for their next physical edition. The events will happen respectively from August 31 to September 2, 2021 in the MOC Munich, and from August 31 to September 1, 2021 in the newly designed Zenith area.
The joint happenings will host an international portfolio of about 1,000 collections altogether. Its organization has been working for months to welcome the textile industry back to a physical show in Munich under the seasonal titles of “Munich Fabric Start–Rise” and “Bluezone–Back to The Future.”
Making the industry meet again
“We couldn't be happier at the moment, because in a few days we will finally bring the textile industry back together in Munich!” said Sebastian Klinder, managing director, Munich Fabric Start. “As organizers, we have literally turned every stone in order to create a safe, creative environment for the industry for efficient work and inspiration under the new conditions. In addition to the high-quality supplier portfolio, we are very proud to be able to offer known and valued services such as free lunch and coffee bars despite the situation, as well as numerous innovations like, for instance, a newly designed sustainability area for sourcing of future-oriented materials, an event program with panel discussions and keynotes with international experts and Bluezone in a ‘back to the future’ atmosphere,” he added.
Safety measures
The event will take place according to a new concept that offers a safe working environment. The entire area of more than 40,000 square meters will be Covid-19 compliant.
Together with specialized staff and in close coordination with Messe München and the authorities, the organizers have developed a hygiene concept that meets the official requirements.
The "3 screening rules" (Tested/Recovered/Vaccinated) decreed by the German Federal Government will apply on the exhibition grounds. At screening stations in front of the exhibition halls, compliance with the three rules will be checked by trained staff on each day of the exhibition. A valid Covid-19 test, a recovered certificate or a vaccination certificate recognized in Germany must be available.
Visitors are required to wear an FFP2 mouth and nose cover on the entire exhibition grounds, which is provided free of charge, if required.
A newly redesigned show
The trade show ground is hosting newly designed areas, trend forums and a diverse and focused event program. The shows will offer five trend topic areas within Munich Fabric Start and four denim trend topic areas within Bluezone providing inspiration and information for fall/winter 2022-23 collections.
A selection of holistic, sustainable solutions will be presented within the newly designed Resource X Sustainable Innovation forum focused on sustainable materials and innovations, offering orientation, information and specific application options for the sourcing of tomorrow’s textiles.
The denim show Bluezone and the innovation hub Keyhouse have merged for this edition and will be presented in the Zenith Hall as well as in a denim park outside in a new ambience. This area is characterized by the look and feel of the “Back to the Future” motto, with black and neon ’80s-inspired aesthetics.
Talks and events
The neighboring coal bunker will be a meeting point for live speeches and networking. This space is a Covid-19 compliant lecture forum for relevant keynotes, expert talks and panel discussions.
Noteworthy talks to be held include “Closing the Loop–How Circular Can the Supply Chain Be?” a panel discussion happening on Tuesday, August 31, at 2:00 pm hosting Adriana Galijasevic, denim, sustainability and circularity expert, Lenzing’s Tricia Carey, and Shahar Livne, designer and textile materials expert, moderated by Sabine Kühnl, executive editor, The SPIN OFF.
The talk “Material Challenges–How to Make Fabrics Functional, Fashionable and Sustainable” is a panel hosting outdoor brand Pyua and Sympatex focused on textile innovations to be held on Wednesday, September 1 at 12:00 pm also moderated by Kühnl.
Among the various events of the Munich event, the Tencel Denim team will disclose Blue Lenz, its own YouTube platform launched in January 2020, the video channel featuring the latest denim stories, educational videos, sustainability news, fabric innovations and trends about denim.
In addition, Tencel will present the first Blue Lenz Denim Video Awards choosing from close to 300 videos featured on its channel. The award ceremony will take place Tuesday, August 31 at 3:00 pm at Bluezone.
