From the end of June, the physical format of Mipel's leather goods specialised trade show Mipel Lab will be integrated with the B2B matchmaking platform that aims to connect Italian and foreign brands with top-end Italian leather goods manufacturers.

Mipel Lab had debuted for the first time at FieraMilano-Rho in September 2021. The project was designed in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and was created with a strong focus on digitization and new technologies.

The platform will complement the physical event, whose next editions will take place in New York on July 13 and 14 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and in FieraMilano-Rho, MIlan, from September 20 to 22, 2022, again within and in conjunction with Lineapelle.

Assopellettieri, the Italian association of leather goods manufacturers that also organises the Mipel Show, is focusing on digital and launching the Mipel Lab online platform. In fact, the innovative trade fair event born from the collaboration with Lineapelle and dedicated to leather sourcing will be integrated with the digital B2B matchmaking platform that acts as a meeting point between supply and demand for Italian leather goods production.

The platform employs an artificial intelligence algorithm that allows local and international luxury brands to match, in just a few clicks, with the top Italian leather goods manufacturers that can best satisfy their production needs in real time, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

"By involving brands not active in Italy to date and providing a service that can put them in touch with the manufacturer that best meets their needs, we hope to create important new business synergies and opportunities with national and international operators," explained Franco Gabbrielli, president of Assopellettieri.

"After these last few difficult years and the still delicate international situation, uniting the physical with the digital and acting as a facilitator between supply and demand in the world of high-end leather goods was not just a wishful thinking but a real necessity," he added. "Today we are also proud to announce the implementation of our digital platform, which allows Mipel Lab to expand in terms of geography and time as well. This is yet another step that we hope will open even more doors to our members and further raise the quality bar in the industry."

"Along with it, Mipel Lab is a 'phygital' concept, so that in addition to the digital platform, also organises a trade show that hosts an  exclusively verified and validated group of excellent Italian producers which can be accessed by anyone who needs to create high-quality collections and productions."
