Italian Fashion Chamber (Camera Nazionale della Moda Italian-CNMI) has announced that in September 2022, Milan will host a special award dedicated to sustainable fashion.
CNMI created the Green Carpet Fashion Awards in 2017, but will not be continued as the collaboration with its initiator Livia Firth and her consulting company Eco-Age has come to an end. The initiative will now take the name CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards and will be held on September 25, 2022, together with the start of a partnership with the United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative.
"Today, more than ever, the Italian Fashion Chamber feels the responsibility to play its role in an institutional way and there is no higher institution than the United Nations to implement and promote sustainability in its broadest sense," said Carlo Capasa, president, CNMI.

"It is in the direction of a new awareness, capable of listening to every voice, that the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Award must become an annual opportunity to verify the state of the art of what crucial and non-postponable issues are–and not only for fashion," said Capasa.
The CNMI president also explained that the nominees will be either reported by the Chamber's associated brands or through an open subscription, and the candidates will be chosen for the sustainability content of their projects. Along with it, part of the jury will also be personalities who can play a critical and proactive role to improve the award’s objectives year after year and that, together with the UN, will be defined and announced in December 2021.
As part of the award's future agenda by February 2022, during Milan Fashion Week, they will announce the co-hosts of the awards and the theme of the initiative.
In September 2022, during the Venice International Film Festival and Art Biennale, they will organize a sustainable charity gala in Venice, a frail and beautiful city, as a sign of the urgent need to promote and follow more sustainable actions.
On September 25, 2022, the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards will take place in Milan, at Teatro alla Scala.
