Scheffer's regenerative cotton is grown exclusively with rainwater, eliminating the need to extract water from rivers, lakes or springs. Along with that, regenerative agriculture most important environmental benefits include decreasing chemical usage, improving soil health, and promoting biodiversity.

Scheffer began cultivating cotton according to regenerative practices more than seven years ago and in 2020, it became the first Brazilian company to receive the Regenagri certification from global certifier Control Union, which attests to the continuous improvement in the implementation and monitoring of regenerative agriculture practices.

In the 2021/2022 crop season, Scheffer had its first 100% regenerative certified production unit, with 13,800 hectares. Today, it is a reference in the subject and a pioneer in large-scale regenerative agricultural practices.

During the last edition of Kingpins Amsterdam, Vicunha presented its first developments with regenerative cotton initially on two families of denim products - Pacito, composed of 100% cotton, and Letizia, which consists of 98% cotton and 2% elastane.

The two fabric collections will be initially available only in the international market and as part of the company’s global expansion strategy. Following this launch of the new denim selections are scheduled to arrive in Brazil in the second half of 2023.

"The experience acquired over the years allows us to continue improving and innovating. With regenerative agriculture, we can produce more sustainably, while maintaining productivity, quality, and scale. In addition, we guarantee the traceability of our regenerative cotton, meeting the standards and demand of the consumer market and the planet as a whole. All of this adds to Vicunha's commitments and objectives towards an increasingly sustainable fashion," commented Guilherme Scheffer, managing partner, Scheffer.

"The use of regenerative cotton in textile production is an important initiative that positively influences the entire fashion chain and encourages more conscious consumption by consumers, contributing to the construction of a more ethical and responsible industry," concludes German Alejandro, CMO of Vicunha.

Always within the last Kingpins Amsterdam, Vicunha showcased other sustainable denim product collections made with recycled and recovered yarns, and natural fibers epecially designed for the European market such as Regenerative Cotton, V.Eco Cycle Recycled and Recovered and Less Cotton.

Vicunha’s V.Eco Cycle Recycled and Recovered collection employs techniques that save up to 95% of water in finishing processes while reducing the use of virgin raw materials through the use of recycled and recovered fibers.

The company has also introduced products made from recycled yarns that require no dyeing, resulting in up to 90% reduction in water consumption and chemical usage. These products have a distinctive appearance with nep effects and subtle irregularities, giving a rustic and stylish finish to the garments, without the need for industrial washing.

The Less Cotton line is designed to promote a circular economy by decreasing the consumption of virgin cotton and promoting sustainable alternatives to denim production.

Vicunha also offers a meticulously designed blended collection that includes more eco-friendly options such as Tencel Lyocell, while maintaining the comfort and contemporary look of denim. The new collection is distinguished by several factors, including the use of recycled pre-consumer cotton that has been recovered from Vicunha's production process.
