Sympatex Technologies, a German company that develops, produces and distributes membranes, laminates, functional textiles and finished products globally, was recently appointed as one of the "Best for the World" B Corp companies of 2021, as among the top 5% of 4,000 certified B Corporations worldwide.

The Munich-based specialist received this award due to initiatives that include the European industry partnership Wear2Wear for the rapid closure of the textile cycle, for its offer of one of the world's first climate-neutral membrane, and for co-designing and being the first signatory of the "UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action.”

"We want to continue to work on our responsibility and use the impulses we experience through the network and through B Corp's intensive assessments and audits. They give us the opportunity to continually check whether we are working faithfully on our principles," said Dr. Rüdiger Fox, Sympatex’s CEO.

As a B Corp company, Sympatex Technologies must always meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and accountability in order to balance profit with purpose. For the textile manufacturer, the award is therefore a renewed motivation and confirmation to continue to work within the global B Corp community to get better every day and influence all stakeholders sustainably.

Since the founding of the B Corp NGO in 2006, there are over 4,000 certified B Corporations in more than 77 countries today. All of them are united by the same goal to reconcile profit maximization with a social mission on their journey towards a responsible, environmentally sustainable and socially fair future for business.

Close to 800 B Corps from more than 50 countries were named to the 2021 Best for the World lists, including Toms, Too Good To Go and Patagonia. "This year's Best for the World companies are operating at the very top of their class, excelling in creating positive impact for their stakeholders, including their workers, communities, customers and the environment. We're proud of the community of stakeholder-driven businesses we've cultivated over the last 15 years; together we're marching toward our collective vision of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for all people and the planet," said Juan Pablo Larenas, executive director of B Lab Global.

The B Corp certification is based on a company's verified performance in the so-called B Impact Assessment based upon the five categories of corporate governance, employees and impact on the environment, customers and society. Every year, participating companies have to answer 200 questions on these categories, and the B Impact Assessment becomes more demanding every year. Sympatex has received the award for the second time as it had already been recognized as part of the B Corp list of the best companies in 2019.
