Tessuti di Sondrio, a Marzotto Group company specializing in the production of natural fiber fabrics, has launched the eco-friendly Heart for Earth fabric collection for S/S 2024.

Part of the collection are fabrics realised in collaboration with Orange Fiber, a company that has patented and produces a first textile fiber extracted from citrus waste. The new fabric is 100% naturally sourced and completely sustainable, and is derived from the by-products of the citrus processing industry, which would otherwise have to be disposed of.

Orange Fiber is obtained by giving a second life to the wet waste that remains at the end of orange juice production, removed from the amount that is used and reused in cosmetics, and which is processed and transformed into cellulose for textiles and, later, into yarn.

The result is a neutral hue fabric, blended with cotton and linen, ready for fine garments, and mindful of the future of the planet.

After its launch at the July 2022 edition of Milano Unica, Tessuti di Sondrio continues its Herbarium project, a collection of fabrics made from organic cotton yarns naturally dyed through the use of plants, flowers and roots.

These fabrics are dyed with special dyes made from the decoction of only the edible parts of indigo, ivy, different types of wood, pomegranate and now camping and tannin.

Thanks to a color bath, in which GOTS-certified organic yarns are dipped as it happens when tea is brewed, they obtain 100% cotton fabrics with unique, natural hues.

Heart for Earth from Sondrio Fabrics also offers cotton used in blends with bamboo, nettle, flax and hemp or with itself to create a wide range of ecofriendly fabrics - Ecrù. These fabrics can be used for a transversal range of garments including pants, over shirts and sweatshirts.

Tessuti di Sondrio also offers technical fabrics made from natural fibers, such as cotton. As part of its Dynamic Piece Dyed fabric selection, it has introduced a range of cottons made from Cordura nylon yarn, developing fabrics that are more durable and structured, perfect for interpreting the urbanization of habitually technical garments.
