As part of the latest edition of Milan Fashion Week, The Woolmark Company and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli unveiled the technical training uniforms that the team will wear in preparation for the 37th America's Cup. As in 2022, the team's official off-race and racing uniforms will be made of Merino wool.
The Woolmark Company, as the official technical partner of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team, worked closely with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli's product development team to expand the current uniform offering to include high-performance apparel for cycling, running and gym training.
The new custom-developed Merino wool technical training uniforms include T-shirts, hoodies, shorts, leggings, a cycling tracksuit, a waterproof jacket, and a revolutionary ultralight windbreaker. The latter is made windproof thanks to the density of the weave, while the 55% Merino wool ensures superior breathability.

"Product innovation was once again a crucial factor in designing the technical training uniforms for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team," explains John Roberts, managing director of The Woolmark Company. "With a focus on lightweight, stretch, strength and moisture wicking properties, our experts met with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli product development team and presented a selection of the best commercially available Merino wool fabrics. Where further development was needed, the teams worked together to create unique fabrics designed to provide additional performance using al Merino wool, a biodegradable material with high protective performance that does not contribute to microplastic pollution,” he added.
"For a sports team of our level, wearing high-quality technical garments also means improving competitive performance. After testing the garments in a wide range of conditions during last year's America's Cup, we discovered the unique properties of Merino wool in terms of elasticity, breathability, comfort, insulation, and water resistance. Having had an excellent experience with these uniforms, we took the opportunity to jointly develop technical training uniforms for the 37th America's Cup, taking advantage of the characteristics of this natural fiber, which, moreover, is perfectly in line with our lifestyle and the sustainability policy pursued by our team," said Max Sirena, skipper and team director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.
