The new indigo substance originates from a collaboration with Stony Creek Colors, US manufacturer of 100% plant-based USDA BioPreferred certified indigo.

This special indigo is derived from the Indigofera Suffruticosa plant grown according to regenerative agriculture practices in the regions of Tennessee, Kentucky and Southern Florida, in the USA. This natural color has the same dyeing ability and performance characteristics of synthetic indigo, though it’s obtained from vegetal raw materials and through processes that have a positive impact on climate and on the environment.

Once the indigo plant is picked is transformed into a dyeing substance through three phases - extraction (achieved by using water), oxidation and pulverization.

Albini_Next has managed to industrially scale its chemical recipe in order to use the dyeing substance directly on the yarn and guarantee that the entire process is coherent with a sustainable production process of natural indigo.

Today Albini Group uses Grounded Indigo for its own organic and traceable cotton Biofusion in three color variants that range from light blue to dark blue and can also be used for additional different shades for fabrics produced  upon exclusive.
