Pattern, an Italian company founded in 2000 by Francesco Martorella and Fulvio Botto, specialists in the design and production of clothing lines for prestigious top international brands, has signed an investment agreement to acquire 100% of Nuova Nicol Srl, a company specialised in the production of luxury women's knitwear in Calderara di Reno, near Bologna.

The deal marks the birth of a Knitwear Valley, an area dedicated to the design, development and production of high-end knitwear between Reggio Emilia, Modena and Bologna, under the leadership of S.M.T. and Zanni, both part of Pattern, and the newly acquired Nuova Nicol.

Luca Sburlati, CEO of Pattern Group, together with Franco Martorella and Fulvio Botto, founders and majority shareholders of Pattern, commented: "We are pleased to announce this operation, which aims to strengthen and optimize the poles of excellence created in the first phase of Pattern Group's growth."

"Today, the Emilia district, with S.M.T. as its parent company, is further completed by becoming what we have called the Group's Knitwear Valley, a luxury knitwear design and production center located between Reggio Emilia, Modena and Bologna," they explained.

Pattern now controls 12 companies in seven Italian regions and employs around 850 people, up from 42 in 2009.

The company has achieved pro forma consolidated sales of more than €100 million in 2022, up from €75 million in 2021.
