As every day, 2.6 billion cups of coffee are drunk worldwide, Spanish fashion brand Ecoalf has developed a new, unique yarn made from coffee grounds in order to maximize our resources and recycle the huge amount of waste that results from the widespread consumption of this drink.

S. Café yarn, this is the name of the new fiber, is obtained by the coffee grounds are first dried and de-oiled. Then, they are converted into pellets and incorporated into plastic filaments under high pressure.

For its f/w 2022 collection, Ecoalf is launching two new “3-in-1” jackets made from this innovative yarn - Mandu for women and Katman for men.

Their outer shell consists of a material made from recycling coffee grounds from 20 cups of coffee and approximately 23 recycled plastic bottles. Thanks to the recycled materials used, each jacket reduces CO2 emissions by around 62%.

Both jacket models are water-repellent, breathable, offer natural protection against UV rays, bind unpleasant odors and dry quickly. This makes them ideal for outdoor activities such as skiing or hiking. Their retail price is €399.95.
