As parcel transport also emits COemissions, shipments are leaving a negative impact on the environment at the moment, Bestseller brands have started offering an alternative shipping solution that could help cut emissions.

When customers shop on Bestseller’s web shops in Germany, they can now choose to receive their purchases by choosing the courier DHL and the climate compensation for the impact the freight leaves on the planet can be reduced. Moreover, the difference of price required for this different shipment type will be of no charge to the customers since it will be paid by Bestseller.

Bestseller Group has started a collaboration agreement with DHL in order that customers can now climate compensate for their orders by choosing the "GoGreen shipping option" when they shop at the fashion company online.

“We already deliver carbon-free in about half of our German delivery districts and deploy more than 38,000 carbon-free delivery vehicles. We’re proud that our business partner Bestseller also supports us on this path and uses our GoGreen service for the climate-neutral shipping of its products – so that together, we can actively contribute to climate protection,” explained Morten Lykke, head of sales at DHL eCommerce Solutions Denmark.

The “GoGreen” climate compensation, which DHL is responsible for, appears with an added cost, making it possible to carry out the climate-friendly initiative. To ensure that the customers don’t have to consider the added cost, Bestseller will be paying for it.

“It’s important, both for us as an international fashion company and our customers, that we reduce our environmental footprint. Therefore, we’re happy that DHL offers climate compensation since it’s one of the best opportunities at the moment making it relevant to offer it to our consumers when they shop with us,” said Anders Frost Nygård, carrier manager within e-commerce at Bestseller.

Bestseller has been working on a series of initiatives aimed at making it become climate positive recently, and the collaboration with DHL is one of the initiatives with this aim within its logistics.

“Ideally, we’d completely eliminate the CO emissions to begin with rather than offsetting them afterwards, but with the current technology and infrastructure, we’ve available today this is one of the best opportunities when it comes to compensating carbon emission within our logistics. We’ve already restructured our own logistics by making partnerships with Maersk and Freja Transport & Logistics to ensure that we are climate neutral on that part. And we’re already searching for other innovative solutions within logistics which are even more environmental-friendly,” added Anders Frost Nygård.
