Stone Island, the Italian premium sportswear brand, has increased its involvement to lower its environmental impact in recent times. The brand, that has just announced that it will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, has presented a new series of s/s 2022 pieces, designed and produced with the aim to pollute less.

The new selection belongs to Stone Island Marina, a line that already exists since a few seasons and is characterised by navy-inspired functionality and aesthetics, applied to active garments with man-made, linear and performance fabrics and a tone-on-tone logo, red star and lettering on seam tape.

This outerwear selection includes a hooded jacket and a hooded vest made out of a three-layer Gore-Tex in recycled polyester. The outer face of the garments is made of recycled polyester, bonded with a thin Gore-Tex membrane that is extremely breathable, durably waterproof and totally windproof. The intangible internal protection mesh of the pieces is also made of paste colored recycled polyester, produced with great savings in water and chemical agents.

As part of this commitment, Sportswear Company Spa, the company behind Stone Island, has been actively involved to lower its impact for some time. While constantly offering products that are manufactured according to less polluting criteria, in 2019 it has joined the “ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Program”, and supports the principles of this program for widespread implementation of sustainable chemistry, promoting innovations and best practices in the textile, apparel and footwear industry to protect consumers, workers and the environment.

Among the players that have joined the initiative there are over 20 leading brands working together to drive industry-wide change in responsible chemical management. Stone Island is committed to working toward this mandate in a collaborative and open manner with them.
