Franco and Giacomo Loro Piana, two brothers from a family worldwide recognized for its Italian elegance and the manufacturing of prestigious textiles, have founded their sustainable high-end sportswear made in Italy brand–Sease.

This brand was created in 2018 without compromise on quality, style and performance while combining their heritage with a contemporary and functional lifestyle.

As its name evokes life at the “sea” and “ease”, like a release from pressure and the pursuit of freedom, it is crafted for a man that needs to escape from the fast-paced polluted city, finding relief in mountain fresh air or the salty seawater.

Sease creates an essential wardrobe to enjoy authentic experiences, in harmony with nature and hybridizes refined classic tailoring with contemporary design and innovation, functional and versatile garments for the outdoors but also easy to be worn in the city.

The brand speaks to a community that care about the environment and committed towards a more respectful way of consuming. The products are engineered through sustainable protocols in terms of raw materials, supply chain process and use of natural resources including mostly organic fibers like precious wool and cashmere, fine linen and hemp. All synthetic textiles, instead, come from recycled PET or bio sources.

Sease is also committed to foster awareness, to promote ethical behaviors, and to educate consumers to make conscious choices.

For these reasons, but also for personal involvement, Sease has presented its newest project inside its recently inaugurated new store in Via Montenapoleone 19, in Milan.

It has teamed up with Sea Shepherd, a non-profit marine conservation activism group who act as guardians and custodians of the oceans. Based in Washington, USA, but operating across the world, the charity is committed to enforcing and protecting conservation law in regard to sea life and upholding rules regarding fishing regulations. In doing so, they protect whales, dolphins, sharks, rays and generally marine life, and bring about arrests and prosecutions of those fishing illegally or damaging and polluting environments. Founded by conservationist Paul Watson in Vancouver in 1977, Sea Shepherd was one of the early pioneers in this field.

“They are true modern heroes. Exceptionally brave, they never stop and take direct action without compromise. I am very proud that Sea Shepherd wears Sease. We created the Kit_001, a capsule collection dedicated to anyone who wants to be part of the movement,” says Franco Loro Piana. All profits will be donated to the Sea Shepherd cause.

The garments of this capsule are made with waste collected from the ocean, the result of an upcycling collaboration with Seaqual, a fiber produced by recycling remains from ocean clean-up, and Majocchi, textile manufacturer using Seaqual.

The capsule is 100% made in Italy, and has been designed with groundbreaking 3D technology from digital disrupters Futureclo, an innovative approach that allows fabrics waste reduction and more efficient use of resources during the product development phase.

The collection, which will outfit the Sea Shepherd crew during their missions, is sleek and functional, consisting of high-performance zip-up tops, vests, sweatshirts, t-shirt and shorts. Emblazoned with the signature Sea Shepherd Jolly Roger flag logo, the range features the key tenets of the charity: defend, protect, conserve, alongside modern graphics featuring the Sea Shepherd mission statements.

A reflective QR code has been incorporated into designs. By scanning it, it will educate further about its initiatives. "I want to speak with the decision makers of the future, with a cool collaboration with a purpose, this is how the new generation engages with fashion today,’ said Franco Loro Piana. ‘It has to mean something."
