Vicario Cinque, is an Italian womenswear and lifestyle brand that was founded in 2014 by Stefano Lora, expert insider of the fashion business and agent of various fashion brands.

The brand, whose name originates from his agency head offices' past location, an ancient 18th century Villa from the Veneto region (Vicario 5), was born with the aim to meet the needs of his clients looking for specific pieces that were missing from various brands’ collections.

“By getting in touch with our clients, over 400 top retailers in Italy and abroad, and establishing a constant relationship with them, we devised that they missed a selection of versatile, good quality and cool-chic women’s dresses. That’s how we started our brand: We started creating and producing these dresses - that continue to be our bestsellers - in our surroundings by involving highly specialised local laboratories, mostly near Padua ,” explained Lora.

After its debut in 2015, the collection gradually started including always more pieces, and always with the aim to meet the requests of its clients. This way it grew to become a total look, 100% Made in Italy and produced by eight small manufacturers, four of whose are located in Veneto.

"Our brand is closely linked to the Veneto region and its design is characterized by feminine and elegant shapes that reflect the local manufacturing tradition and high quality, offeerd at reasonable prices,” he explained.

The collection now includes 150 pieces dresses sold at prices between €55-€80 wholesale, and knitwear in various materials including cotton, wool, viscose and 100% cashmere pieces at €40-€90 wholesale that retailers sell with a 2.8 mark-up on the sell-in price. In addition to its seasonal offer, it also includes a selection of Essentials, about 15 carry-over garments available in different colors and materials, suitable to be worn through seasons and reinvented for various occasions by mixing them with various other pieces and accessories.

Most of the materials used for the collection are Made in Italy, and all prints are designed internally upon exclusive motives.

His brand sells all over Italy, and abroad, as export counts for 70% of the about three million Euro revenues reached in 2022. Starting from f/w 2023, Lora has established a comprehensive network that involves international agents and distributors. Thanks to them, he sells the brand to Italy, DACH countries, Belgium, The Netherlands, The UK, Middle East, Asia (especially in Korea and Taiwan), The US and soon will also start in Oceania. Vicario Cinque also operates through three showrooms in Vicenza, Milan and Dubai.

At present, it is sold through 500 stores worldwide that might soon grow further, thanks to its newly established organization.

Vicario Cinque also offers a digital service to its clients, as each store can count on it as a marketplace through which stores can send products directly to the final consumer who purchased it without keeping merchandise inside an own warehouse.

“We operate according to a made-to-order and almost made-upon-request business model,” explained Lora. “We produce only what we are sure we will sell, in order not to produce waste or product quantities that might not find an actual destination in the market. All extra costs of not sold products end up weighing on the final cost of the product,” he added.

The company pays extreme attention to what materials and in which conditions its pieces are produced. “We are compiling our first sustainability report, and hope to release it very soon," explained Lora.

"As part of our commitment we use many recycled materials, especially for spring/summer collections. Along with that each item we produce carries a special certificate that proves that the laboratories we worked with doesn't employ any underage people and every worker is treated fairly. Producing in Italy is more expensive than in other countries, but it also has an own value,” he continued.

Staring from s/s 2024 we will also offer beachwear and bathing suits and soon might also start including leather goods and footwear.

Along with these products it also already offers homeware and design pieces like ceramic, home objects, candles and home fragrances, also manufactured locally according to historical local traditions like Murano glass and Bassano del Grappa’s ceramic manufacturing, and decored with graphics inspired by the company’s new offices based in another historical villa, Villa Piovene Lora, in Brendola, near Vicenza, that had belonged in the late 1800s to Contessa Adele Piovene, a forward-thinking personality who recalled writers, intellectuals and thinkers in her house’s literary salotto.

The villa, that has been recently renovated, cabled and redesigned according to modern criteria design that exalt its past beauty, according to the same wish that Lora recently said: "My desire is to bring the beauty and the essence of the Veneto region culture in the daily life of women from all over the world."
