Zèta’s sneakers are designed in Bordeaux, France, and manufactured in a family-run footwear manufacturing company in the Porto region of Portugal.

The brand was founded in September 2020 with the mission is to offer sustainable footwear made exclusively from recycled, vegan and recyclable materials. The brand is now selling 11 shoe models online and through a network of 12 retailers across Europe.

The new Re:Ground limited edition capsule collection is inspired by the principles of zero-waste, sustainable design and French style. Each pair of these sneakers contains the coffee grounds from 12 cups of espresso from Nespresso's capsule recycling program, which has been integrated into the vegan "coffee leather" upper and sole of the shoes.

All components of Re:Ground shoes are made from 80% recycled and sustainable materials. In addition to the recycled coffee grounds contained in the faux coffee leather, outsole and insole, they are made with recycled plastic, recycled cork, rubber and latex, too.

The new sneakers are available since May 10, 2022, exclusively at zeta-shoes.com at €155.00.

The innovative "coffee leather" was developed thanks to a collaboration between Zèta and its partner Tintex. The new leather alternative is an advanced composite material and a virtuous example of the "bioeconomy" as the artificial leather was produced with eco-based materials and fabrics.

The shoes’ uppers include the special composite material made with a textile substrate, a bottom layer fabric made of 100% cotton, and in the top coating, which is made of about 20% sustainable and bio-based polymers and about 75% water-based polyurethanes. The faux coffee leather also features several sustainable aspects including high levels of bio-substances, natural dyes and environmentally friendly processing.

Re:Ground comes in three colorways - Cappuccino, Latte and Ristretto -, inspired by the designers' favorite coffees.

Laure Babin, the 25-year-old CEO of Zèta, recognized a growing gap in the market for environmentally conscious footwear and founded the brand with the goal of creating the world's first zero-waste, sustainable sneaker.

"My vision for Zèta was to create stylish sneakers for environmentally conscious fashion lovers,” she explained. “For this capsule collection, our fabric developers at Tintex spent eight months perfecting an innovative vegan faux leather made from recycled coffee grounds. Re:Ground is the embodiment of our collaboration with Nespresso, a chic and stylish shoe that celebrates the value of coffee and the integrity of the circular economy,” added Babin.
