Since 2018 H.eich S.r.l, the Italian company that owns the woman’s contemporary apparel brand Ottod’Ame, has taken a path based upon experimentation, sustainability and focused on the use of less impactful materials. Along with it, the brand has set the target to use 50% recycled fabrics for its collections by 2025.

The first step taken in this direction was to convert its hangers, envelopes, hang tags and small components and use packaging and merchandising made of recycled materials only. Then, in 2021 it launched Ottod’Ame Caring, a dedicated collection using recycled materials.

The aim to speed up its evolution in this direction has started from s/s 2022 as Ottod’Ame has started using traceable and sustainable ICEA GRS certified recycled materials and produced without employing any harmful substance in compliance with current OEKO TEX-Standard100 requirements.

Ottod’Ame Caring also offers pieces made with Ecotec cotton, whose production allows reducing greenhouse gas emissions down to 46.6% and cut water consumption down to 61.6% throughout the production chain. It includes EcoVero viscose garments derived from the processing of wood pulp through a sustainable circular process that reduces emissions and water consumption by about 50% and includes denim garments made with fabrics using a mix of organic cotton and regenerated cotton.

For f/w 2022/2023 Ottod’Ame will also explore the outerwear segment by launching the new capsule Way-Out offering about 30 jackets and five accessories made with 70% recycled fabrics and padded with a material that recreates an effect that is similar to natural down. To increase and strengthen its environmental commitment, Way-Out will also be completed by a dedicated labeling expressing the collection’s aims.

“Our commitment to a green conversion has been running for years, while we have been trying to cope with the difficulties that this type of production requires in terms of timing and the complications caused by an increasingly competitive market,” said Nicolò Frosini, CEO, H.eich. “We want to reduce our company’s whole production process’ sustainable footprint – from packaging to the finished product, including and increasing alternative materials and yarns in Ottod’Ame’s collections,” he added.
