The sustainable jeans label Mud Jeans has launched a new project and collaboration meant to support the Vincent van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

The brand has started sensitising the unique artist’s fans who visited the museum and asked them to bring their old jeans until May 16.

The old denim pieces will be recycled into a new fabric that will be used to create a special capsule - the Van Gogh Museum ✕ MUD Jeans Capsule Collection - made by recycling the old denim items into new fashionable pieces of art.

The new capsule will be recreated thanks to collaboration with Calik Denim. The global denim specialist will produce a new denim fabric made by combining recycled cotton and hemp into a new heritage denim, while recycling the discarded jeans.

A unique decor element will characterize these styles - the reproduction of a handwritten quote from a letter sent by Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo on 3 March 1881 saying: “Having hope for better times should not be a feeling but a doing in the present.”

Thanks to this collaboration, Van Gogh’s reflection will not simply remain a wish, but will become a visible an tangible inspiration for today and tomorrow.
