Levi's 501 jeans are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year.

Born as workwear, the garment has become an evergreen style worn by different generations over the decades.

As part of this year's celebrations, Levi's is revamping the men's 501, which was first introduced in 1954, taking inspiration from the model that debuted that year, but with a higher rise and a slightly slimmer leg fit.

Also part of the celebration is the 501 style, the first version of the women's style introduced in 1981, with a mom fit and a tighter leg fit typical of the '80s.

A series of washes inspired by the brand's archives are also part of this celebratory capsule of pieces.

A men's and women's 501 Short is also available in a range of washes and finishes.

In addition, special styles in this celebratory collection include a line of jeans inspired by the company's archive and a special back patch with the "150" lettering, as well as buttons with the "1873-2023" engraving and the "150" text on rivets.

"The Levi's 501 is the ultimate blue jean. Born as an innovative riveted work pant, it has become an icon with minor modifications over its 150-year history. So has the women's 501 in 1981 and then the 501 Taper in 2015, which we designed after seeing people 'taper' their 501s in Levi's tailor shops," said Karyn Hillman, chief product officer, Levi Strauss & Co.

"Today, we have incredible fits of the 501 from different generations, like the 501 '93 and the new 501 '54, all while staying true to the original model,” Hillman added.
