The backpack brand Mystery Ranch Backpacks and tear resistant fiber specialist Cordura Advanced Fabrics have started collaborating at the new Dior by Mystery Ranch capsule for the Parisian house's summer 2023 men's collection.

Partnering for the first time with the two specialists, Dior’s new backpacks and bags are setting a new direction for the maison willing to recall a younger target by combining the formal with the informal, the practical with the purely aesthetic, outdoor culture with the demands of luxury and a desire to offer more sustainable products.

Inspired by Christian Dior’s passion and attachment to the countryside, the earth and “simple and natural things,” as presented during the last collection designed by Kim Jones, artistic director for Dior Men, the new partnership aims to bring authentic outdoor design and functionality to the men’s summer collection.

The new collaboration collection features different models including a reinterpreted version of Dior’s Saddle Bag, the Gallagator backpack, along with a Belt Pouch, a Wallet, and a Tactical Belt. All models are available in two colorways, featuring Cordura Re/Cor RN66, a resistant and durable fabric entirely made with a GRS certified Recycled Nylon 6,6 fabric. Completing each style of the collection is an embroidered leather crest intermingling the seal of the two Houses.

For over 20 years, Mystery Ranch has been building top quality load-carriage equipment for wild land firefighters, mountain and tactical professionals. Based in Montana, close to the Rocky Mountains, where its equipment is tested–the brand imagines bags created for adventure, resistant to the most extreme situations, and intended for rescue services.

The backpack brand has been partnering with Cordura Advanced Fabrics for long across all product categories. “Urging the outdoor industry to “Expect More, Waste Less”, Cordura Re/Cor RN66 fabric challenges the throw-away mentality within the textile industry, making it easier for consumers to understand how one ingredient and quality craftsmanship can allow them to get the most from their gear and apparel. For those who demand durability, there's no better choice,“ said Cindy McNaull, brand business development director, Cordura.

“Recently we identified the emerging crossover lifestyle trend whereby consumers are looking for clothing, bags and packs they can use for work and their leisure pursuits. Traditional boundaries are changing–our customers are taking inspiration for their products from a wide variety of markets such as outdoor and urban lifestyle. Combining working from home, adventure-travel and exercise, is the new reality. We are applying our knowledge of durable fiber and fabric technologies to help shape and define the fusion of functional fashion for the consumer of tomorrow,” she added.

The collection is available starting from February 16, 2023, exclusively in Dior retail locations worldwide and on dior.com.
