Both Coronet and Golden Goose share a from a passion for ‘perfectly imperfect’ products that are authentic and unique, and together they will launch Yatay, what they claim to be the first Made in Italy platform for sustainable innovation, a project which will go live at the end of 2022.

As the name Yatay comes from a particular species of palm, Butia Yatay, a palindrome noun that also lends itself well to symbolize the principle of circularity, the two partners aim to create innovative products and provide positive social and economic impact, whilst doing their best to keep a low environmental footprint.

The first result of the partnership will be the Yatay Model 1B, an entirely Made in Italy gender-neutral sneaker crafted with animal-free materials, made of Yatay  B, a bio-based material derived from vegetable sources and components including recycled polyester and biodegradable rubber. Moreover, this material produces 90% CO2 emissions less and uses 65% less water compared to regular leather manufacturing processes.

In addition, every left heel tab of Yatay Model 1B shoe carries a unique number embossed. With this code, each member of the Golden Goose community can access a special section of the brand's website and be involved in an additional sustainable project. Thanks to a partnership with Treedom everyone purchasing a pair of these shoes can plant an own tree and monitor its growth and the amount of CO2 it absorbs.

Golden Goose has also recently celebrated the reopening of its store in Venice, in Calle Vallaresso. The shop was recently redesigned and doubled its size, reaching now over 120 square meters.

The Venice store was redesigned with the aim to increase consumers’ experience and further involve them in the brand’s own world. For these reasons, at the entrance it hosts a Concrete Room, a homage to Marghera, the city where the brand was born, and one of Italy’s main commercial and industrial harbors. This space is characterized by a recovered Italian wood floor and raw concrete walls, decored with mirrored shelves.

The second room, instead, reminds of a futuristic ambience as it is entirely covered with mirrors. This area is dedicated to co-creation, and it offers the brand’s fans the possibility to express their personal story thanks to the help of Sneakers Makers, expert artisans and artists who will be able to customize their newly bought shoes with studs, crystals, messages and hand made drawings, and make them unique single exemplar sneakers.
