Porsche Design, the prestigious car brand’s design related objects, has just launched a highly innovative sneaker model, the new 3D MTRX sneaker, created in collaboration with the international sporting goods manufacturer Puma.
What especially distinguishes this sneaker model is that for the first time, both premium brands are using an innovative midsole created by a 3D printer.
The unique grid design–the “matrix”–of the midsole is based on the Porsche Design logo, and each cube of the matrix structure is modeled upon the shape of the PD logo. The 3D-printed lattice structure made of elastic high-performance materials offers higher performance and durability as well as higher comfort than comparable similar foam midsoles.
Thanks to the innovative "Superior Energy Return” technology, every vertical force, like for instance every step taken by the wearer, is converted into a horizontal forward movement. The sole thus reinforces the natural running movement and ensures that up to 83% of the vertical energy exerted by the runner can be "recovered" and transferred. This significantly increases the athlete's performance.
Moreover, thanks to the mechanical properties of the special technical materials made of polyurethane elastomers, the sneaker also achieves top values of performance in terms of durability, resistance, tear resistance and flexibility.
The sole of the sports shoe was subjected to more than one million compression cycles in laboratory tests without suffering any significant loss of quality.
The 3D MTRX grid structure creates hundreds of air-filled cubes that, in combination with the flexible material of the grid struts, provide maximum cushioning and stability-especially on hard surfaces like asphalt–a characteristic that makes this sneaker an ideal companion for living in the city.
The new 3D MTRX from Porsche Design is available in two sporty and elegant color variants–a white style with a black outsole and an "All Black" model in black with a black outsole–both ideal complements for all modern sportswear outfits.
The premium full-grain leather upper and evoKNIT textile lining create a comfortable sock-like fit. The use of ultra-light design elements made of high-quality carbon fiber ("Carbon Fiber Parts"), inspired by the manufacturing of Porsche sports cars, provides a modern futuristic design.
The Porsche Design 3D MTRX Sneaker is available now at a price of €350 in Porsche Design Stores and on porsche-design.com as well as via
www.puma.com.
