Cecilie Bahnsen, a Danish timeless and contemporary womanswear label, and Asics, a popular Japanese activewear brand with over 70 years of experience in movement, have partnered together to create an upcycled limited edition collection.

For s/s 2023, Bahnsen has brought her own unique vision of femininity and Scandinavian simplicity together with the Japanese activewear brand. Initially, they presented a selection of up-cycled trainers at the Cecilie Bahnsen s/s 2023 Runway Show at Paris Fashion Week, and, starting from 20 October 2022 on, they are launching the limited range of styles available exclusively on ceciliebahnsen.com.

Finding a common thread through the importance of movement and well-being, the two brands merged their visions to create a capsule of the limited shoes. Asics, with over 70 years of activewear presence, provided a selection of styles from the Sport Style and Running collections where Cecilie and her design team carefully embellished each with couture elements to complement each individual shoe.

The special limited edition collection is characterised by hand-stitched floral beads and appliqués adorning different styles including the Gel-1090, Gel-1130, Gel-Nimbus 9, Gel-Nimbus 23 and Gel-Nimbus 24.

The special single edition pairs have been all handmade in Cecilie Bahnsen’s Copenhagen studio bringing a touch of couture craftsmanship to everyday sneaker styles.

The one-of-a-kind collection includes 50 pairs of trainers in various sizes from EU 35.5 to 41.5 at a price range of €350 to €490. Engineered with superior technology, the pieces align with Asics brand ethos, where its name stands for Sound Mind, Sound Body as the breand's acronym "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano" means.

Comfort and unique style sit at the core of the collaboration and journey, which will also continue to include more exemplars in 2023.

“With Asics it has always been about movement, motion and mindfulness - having fun and ease. I think that type of comfort really speaks to our brand too, and how we love to wear the collection-so it lends itself perfectly to this collaboration,” commented Bahnsen.

In addition to the creative project, Cecilie Bahnsen and ASICS, are donating proceeds from the sales to the international non-profit organization, Right To Play, a global organization that protects, educates and empowers 2.35 million children to rise above adversity using the power of sports and play every year in some of the most difficult and dangerous places on earth, helping them to stay in school and graduate, resist exploitation, overcome prejudice, prevent disease and heal from the trauma of war.
