Tommy Hilfiger launches Tommy x Aries, a new collaboration that celebrates streetwear and promotes sustainability at the same time.
The Tommy x Aries collection consists of 35 pieces including clothing for men and women, and footwear. It is inspired by the Tommy Jeans archives updated through the lens of luxury streetwear brand Aries.
The capsule plays with exaggerated proportions through a mix of layering and denim bringing Aries' luxury streetwear vibe to the modern preppy.
Key garments include the jacquard ribbon logo dress and black trucker jacket with matching 5-pocket pants, as well as the indigo denim jacket and screen print denim pants.
Supporting Tommy Hilfiger's sustainability vision to “Waste Nothing and Welcome All”, a curated selection of pieces within the collection comes from “Tommy x Aries: Remade"offering one-of-a-kind handmade pieces by Aries made by reusing existing garments from post-consumer waste and surplus materials.
Women's garments include irreverent corsets made from Tommy flag and recycled denim, vintage cropped T-shirts, jacquard ribbon harnesses, and an asymmetrical three-knit jersey dress.
Men's apparel features remade Tommy flags and graffiti emblems on vintage t-shirts and hoodies.
The campaign promoting this launch emphasises the design and construction of the individual models shot by photographer Angelo Pennetta and brings his unique look to the collaboration and creates striking imagery.
His lookbook features Grammy-nominated rapper Glorilla, grime artist Novelist, and the Aries 5EB family, Brian Tshabola, Haajar Djouada, Kasper Kapica, Kirbs, Nathan Rosen, and Xiao Wang.
With an irreverent nod to streetwear culture, a nostalgic 8-bit game has been created that encourages fans to sign up for Tommy Hilfiger's local membership program and play for a chance to win garments from the collection and gain access to the presale.
Aries is a luxury no-gender streetwear brand, made in Italy and created in London. Founded by Sofia Prantera, Aries was born out of the designer's love for trash culture, outsider art, graphic design and illustration. The brand reflects Sofia's Saint Martin's founding background and her approach to garment construction, dyeing and printing.
Her cultural output takes the form of self-published books, international art shows, exhibitions, experiences and collaborations ranging from cult and collectible to esoteric.
The collection will be available starting March 31, 2023, in select Tommy Jeans stores and on tommy.com, as well as in Aries' London store.
