"Remix" is a new project born from a synergy between United Brands Company, licensee of the Benetton brand, and the Politecnico Calzaturiero, two realities of Italy's Veneto region that decided to join forces with the aim of promoting the themes of recycling and upcycling, entrusting them to youth creativity.
UBC provided Polytechnic students with samples from the spring/summer 2022 and fall/winter 2022 seasons, products and materials usually destined for the scrap heap, asking them to design and create new footwear.
Shoes, accessories such as laces, patches, labels, and Vibram rubber branded bottoms were the materials that Benetton provided to the young people involved in the project. No constraints or limitations were imposed on the students in the creation of the new models. The only request was to give free rein to their personal creative fertility and provide new interpretations to the Benetton style.
Thanks to the talent of these young creatives, the "Remix" project was able to materialize into products with a high aesthetic charge, into shoes ready to be worn in everyday life and, above all, into a fundamental message for contemporary society: that reusing is a fundamental alternative road to waste.
Today, September 19 at the Benetton booth at Micam, the footwear trade show happening in Milan in these days, at 3.30PM, the most interesting projects will be awarded.
