Golden Goose, a Made in Italy luxury sneaker brand founded in 2000, continues to pursue its efforts to reduce its environmental impact.

The company recently founded Yatay Lab, a co-action platform committed to the research and development of circular and sustainable materials and products, as well as dealing with shoe repair.

The project was born as the natural evolution of the partnership established in 2022 between Golden Goose and Coronet Group, a multinational company founded in 1967 and a leader in the research and production of animal-free, bio-based and recycled materials and a reference point for the global market of sustainable luxury Made in Italy.

The Lab is located in Erba, near Como, where Coronet Group has its headquarters, and aims to develop innovations with the smallest environmental footprint.

The new partnership will not only allow for continuous testing phases of the new materials, but also to test scalability directly on the Golden Goose product, and to gather consumer feedback.

The new materials will subsequently be made available to all luxury players, thus accelerating the circular transformation of the fashion industry, united in fostering a chain of positive change.

During 2022, Golden Goose and Coronet worked together to develop Yatay B, a bio-based material derived from plant sources that is not exploitable in the food chain.

The innovative material was first used in the conception and creation of the Yatay Model 1B, the brand's first bio-based sneaker, and later on a selection of Golden Goose sneakers.

For 2023, Golden Goose plans to introduce a number of new models using Yatay materials, thus making sneakers that will combine the brand's traditional craftsmanship and sustainable innovation.

"The year 2022 has been incredible for our sustainability journey. A journey of progress and learning that has helped define who we are and what we want to stand for, while maintaining our uniqueness and authenticity in all the choices we make," said Silvio Campara, CEO, Golden Goose.

In 2022 Golden Goose opened three Forward Stores in Milan, New York and Dubai. An innovative and sustainable retail concept, promoting Repair, Remake, Resell and Recycle services.

By the end of 2022, 45% of transactions in its Forward Stores included services offered by the brand such as shoe making and tailoring, and mainly sneaker repairing.

After offering the repair service, which is available on any product of any brand, Golden Goose is ready to offer it online on its e-commerce as well.

Golden Goose recently released its 2022 Diary, the company's second Sustainability Report.

Among the year's highlights, the company joined the United Nations Global Compact (the world's largest voluntary initiative for sustainable development, promoted by the United Nations to uphold the values of long-term sustainability), Valore D (the first business association in Italy committed to promoting gender equality and a more inclusive culture in business) to the Leather Working Group (a global multi-stakeholder community committed to building a more sustainable leather supply chain) and the Science Based Target Initiative (the global initiative that enables companies to set ambitious emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science).
