Sporting goods company Nike has launched a digital community based on blockchain technology that allows the fans of the brand to meet and collect virtual creations.

 



These items will be typically interactive digital objects such as virtual shoes or jerseys that community members can wear in online games and "immersive experience", presumably connected to Metaverse. "We are designing a marketplace of the future with an accessible platform for Web 3 curious people," Nike Virtual Studios general manager Ron Faris said in a press note.




 

The platform is called Swoosh, alluding to the U.S. company's logo, which is called Swoosh. Initially, Swoosh is in a "beta" phase, in which the community will be put through its paces by selected users. The rest of the users will be able to register from of November on, according to the company.

In 2023, Nike plans to present its first digital collection, which will be shaped by the platform's community. Subsequently, community members will have the opportunity to develop virtual products together with Nike. The winners will be able to win a license fee for the co-designed product.
