Diesel is launching a new sneaker "hero" model, The Prototype, designed by creative Director Glenn Martens.

The sneaker features repeated rubber straps, asymmetric lacing and an industrial outsole tread, and, as explained by the company, "it aims to set the tone for the future of Diesel footwear while pushing the limits of athletic footwear design, breaking away with aesthetic and technical conventions."

To celebrate the launch of the shoe, Diesel has developed an exclusive limited-edition Diesel NFT (Non Fungible Token) created by The Fabricant, a digital fashion house focused on developing digital-only clothing and accessories. The result of the collaboration is a piece of digital art whose protagonist is The Prototype, which Diesel will be "seeding" to talents close to the brand and metaverse enthusiasts.

Diesel has also partnered with Neuno.io, luxury NFT marketplace, to recreate The Prototype 3D design as NFT. This was gifted to all attendees of the annual NFT.NYC conference, held in New York in early November 2021 where Natalie Johnson, founder of neuno.io, announced details of the neuno’s site launch and of the partnership with Diesel.

The Prototype, made its debut on Diesel’s spring/summer 2022 runway, although the actual shoe will start to be available from December 2021, at Diesel stores worldwide and through Diesel's own website. Additional color options will drop in February 2022.
