The in April 2017 issued mentoring program for sustainably working Berlin fashion labels, called out by Fashion Council Germany, the Berlin senate for Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises has found its winners: Benu Berlin and Philomena Zanetti.

Under the motto sustainability, young German designers were invited to apply. Among the candidates were the labels Farrah Floyd, Maqu, Benu Berlin, Schmidttakahashi and Philomena Zanetti. 

The winner label Benu Berlin, founded in 2012 by Karen Jessen, focuses on upcycled couture and conscious consumption.

The other winner, Philomena Zanetti, by designer Julia Leifert produces sustainable fashion made from high-quality natural materials like "peace" silk (won from a process where silkworms do not have to suffer or die) and bio cotton. 

Both of them will now participate in the mentoring program consisting of workshops around the topics creativity, production, sales, strategy and media. They will also have the opportunity to exhibit at Berlin’s fair duo Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show (organized by Messe Frankfurt) in July 2017.
