How can a butcher's shop do without meat? In Berlin Friedrichshain this is possible. Even if the display is overflowing with sausage products, the shelves are filled with blood sausage, mini sausages, chicken drumsticks and salami sticks - at concept store Aufschnitt meat lover's heart may beat faster, but instead of animal meat only cotton, lycra, microfibre and artificial leather are processed here. Founder Silvia Wald came up with this unusual idea.

The clothing technician opened her studio for cut design and model making in 2008. Aufschnitt Berlin was created as a play on words from the German word “Schnittkonstruktion”, the basis for the production of clothing and the German butcher's term “Aufschnitt” in the sense of cold cuts. Wald herself is a vegetarian, but she loves to create extraordinary lifestyle products and textile home accessories. For the future, Silvia Wald can imagine expanding the product range and converting other goods from the supermarket into textiles.
