Slam Jam, the Italian streetwear pioneer and incubator company (also see here), and 2050+, a Milan-based multidisciplinary agency working across politics, technology, the environment, and politics, are launching Circle, a digital think tank meant to give voice to some most pressing issues of our time, with an eye on multiculturalism and climate change. The goal of the platform is to provoke vibrant conversation and ignite positive change.

Circle originates from an in-depth research conducted by 2050+ with the support of Slam Jam that considers the city of Milan as a concentrate of contemporary and future challenges such as climate change, migration, mass tourism, urban development and similar key contemporary fast evolution factors.

The research highlights a number of significant changes the city is undergoing as seen from the specific lens of urban movers–including delivery riders, building climbers, arborists and urban dancers–pointing out how urban renewal is based upon multiculturalism and inclusiveness.

In a time in which the Covid-19 situation has forced everyone into digital environments, and online forums are more present than ever, Slam Jam and 2050+ have decided to create a tool for sparking conversations around crucial matters.

The platform debuted on January 21 and will run until mid-February by hosting a series of "editorial pills" focused on topics such as health, green, people and waste.

It will feature lectures, voice memos, digital animations and speculative graphics among other expression forms by guest contributors willing to challenge the traditional boundaries of architecture, urbanism and design, proposing instead experimental ways to engage with space, materials and communities.

Circle functions as a collaborative online forum: it will provide key information and also offer a platform for exchanging ideas and catalyzing collective participation. It can be freely accessed by everyone on circle.slamjam.com.
