36 labels presented their sustainable collections at the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin last week. The tradeshow for green casual and street wear had a good premiere with a great crush of visitors.

„We experienced a very good prelude and are happy about the positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors,” said Detlef Braun, manager of Messe Frankfurt. Directed by Messe Frankfurt and along with the GREENshowroom at Hotel Adlon Kempinski, the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin serves as the central platform for eco-fashion.

At two halls the exhibitors presented their green fashion ideas for fall/winter 2012/13. Wolfgang Grupp, owner and CEO of Trigema and face of  the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin stated: ”We cannot domineer over the textile industry however we want to fulfil the demand for green products 100%. That is why our brand Trigema Changes follows the principle of cradle-to-cradle. It takes time until a product is circulated widely, but there is always a small group going ahead and we are ready.“

Carlien Hellmink of the Dutch label Studio Jux was thrilled by the atmosphere and professionalism of the fair: ”The Ethical Fashion Show is well organized and the location is beautiful. We received great feedback from our visitors and were able to foster and establish our contacts.“

Apart from the presentation of the international labels, Messe Frankfurt set up a knowledge-lounge in hall C where organizations such as Blauer Engel, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Greenpeace Detox Campaign, Helvetas, Internationaler Verband der Naturtextilindustrie (IVN) and TransFair e.V. presented themselves.

The event’s supporting program included artworks such as a serigraph workshop where worn clothes could be  upcycled under the motto „more green, less greed“. In addition, performance artists presented their art, sound and light installations.

The next Ethical Fashion Show Berlin is taking place from July 4-6, again at the ewerk Berlin.
